Chainguard's redistribution of the metrics-agent Helm chart, pre-configured with hardened Chainguard Images.

The Cloudability metrics-agent collects Kubernetes cluster allocation metrics and sends them to Cloudability for cost visibility and optimization.

Prerequisites

Authentication is required to access this chart and its images. First, authenticate with Chainguard and configure your environment:

chainctl auth login
chainctl auth configure-docker --pull-token --save
helm registry login cgr.dev

Create an image pull secret for the cluster:

kubectl create secret docker-registry cgr-pull-secret \
  --docker-server=cgr.dev \
  --docker-username="$(echo cgr.dev | docker-credential-cgr get | jq -r '.Username')" \
  --docker-password="$(echo cgr.dev | docker-credential-cgr get | jq -r '.Secret')"

Installation

A Cloudability API key and a cluster name are required by the chart:

helm install metrics-agent oci://cgr.dev/ORGANIZATION/charts/metrics-agent \
  --set imagePullSecrets[0].name=cgr-pull-secret \
  --set apiKey=<your-cloudability-api-key> \
  --set clusterName=<your-cluster-name>

Instead of passing the key inline, you can reference an existing Kubernetes secret containing CLOUDABILITY_API_KEY:

helm install metrics-agent oci://cgr.dev/ORGANIZATION/charts/metrics-agent \
  --set imagePullSecrets[0].name=cgr-pull-secret \
  --set secretName=cloudability-api-key \
  --set clusterName=<your-cluster-name>

FIPS

A FIPS variant of this chart is published alongside the default one and deploys the metrics-agent-fips image.
